Suspended Mariners reliever Julio Mateo has volunteered to undergo counseling in Seattle as part of the organization's employee assistance program, the club announced on Monday. Police contend that Mateo punched, bit and choked his wife, Aurea, during an argument early Saturday morning.
Mateo is on a 10-day suspension - after that I predict that he will be GONE from the Mariners - AND GOOD RIDDANCE.
Mariners president Chuck Armstrong said the organization "deplores domestic violence. There is simply no excuse for it."
