Actually, the better day would be the 18th. You need that day to recover from celebrating the previous day!VW
I'm not much of a drinker anymore VW - so the day after (for me) wouldn't be needed.

yeah - I'm pretty sure that bars are pretty packed on that day. I'll admit that I spend 24 hours watching QVC and their products from Ireland. Although according to my sister and my kid the sweaters that I like are old lady sweaters.
