Daniel Brandhorst 9/11/01

I have the honor of paying tribute to Daniel Brandhorst.  Daniel was 41 years old on 9/11/01.  He was a passenger on United Airlines Flight 175.  On board with Daniel was his partner, Ron Gamboa and their son, 3 year old David.  A family wiped out.  The only silver lining is that the three of them were together.  Still horrible.  Daniel worked for Price Waterhouse in California. Here is the tribute that was written for Daniel's son David: http://hammeringsparksfromtheanvil.blogspot.com/2006/09/in-honor-of-david-reed-gamboa.htmlHere are some messages that I have read on legacy.com..... Late again ... I'm sure you guys are looking down on me now saying "Typical John, he'll probably be late to his own funeral" ... but you were on my mind all day yesterday ... we went to the Bowl last night ... it was Mahler's 7th ... I'm such a sap ... during the National Anthem I thought of you guys and started crying ... we had a Mass said for you at St Victor's ... I never met the guy you wanted to introduce me to at that Pop's group, but I did meet a wonderful man ... Bryan ... and we are getting married on the 29th ... I will be thinking of you guys that day, and the inspiration you were and still are to me today ... God Bless you all, grant you eternal rest and may perpetual light shine upon you ...

Another Christmas without you, salty tears sting my heart that just can't seem to heal. My sister doesn't laugh anymore.

I miss you all so much. I am so sad that you are gone. We never got to see each other again since that summer in LA when I ran into you and Ron in WH and you talked me into staying the whole summer to hangout with you and help you find a new car- a cranberry BMW and that was just after you moved in to the house in Century City, and to think I moved to LA in 2 weeks after this horrible thing happened to the 3 of you. I MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!! I NEED YOU GUYS HERE WITH ME. I will continue celebrate your lives and remember how great you guys were to me and all your family and friends every day.

We think of you often. This anniversary is bringing back a flood of memories. John and Joe are 8 now and their only memory of David, you and Ron, are the stories we tell them and the few pictures we have. We talk about Disneyland, Mammoth, St Victor's, eating out and the numerous afternoons or evenings at your home or ours. We talk about Jeff crying all the way home from your New Year's Eve gathering. We talk about last seeing you at John and Joe's Birthday party in late August 2001. We remember you holding Julia, who was less than a month old, and how you were hoping your next child would be a girl. We thought there were going to be so, so many more fun times as our children grew up together. We miss you and all pray for you and your family every night.
