Patrick Michael Aranyos 9/11/01

I have the honor of paying tribute to Patrick Aranyos. He was 26 years old. He was killed at the WTC on September 11th. Patrick worked as a bond broker at Euro Bond Brokers. Born in The Hague, the Netherlands, Patrick grew up in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. He lived all over from Amersham, England to Jupiter, Florida and ended up in Boston, Massachusetts for college. After graduating in 1997 from Boston College with a degree in finance and marketing, Pat found his way to the isle of Manhattan. His parents were Alexander and Winifred, he had a brother Alexander and sister Stephanie.

In his memory:

I knew Pat at Boston College. He was truly a great guy. My prayers and thoughts are with his family.

Throughout a person's life, it's rare to meet a close, unconditional, and enduring friend that will perservere with you, laugh with you, and be there for you whenever you need him. I was lucky enough to have Patrick be that friend to me, and he was so much more. On so many levels, I could relate to him and saw many of my own personality traits reflected in him - only he carried them off much better. So when he passed on, so did a part of me. My heart aches for him and my deepest sympathy goes out to the many that share in my grief. Sometimes I have dreams of Patrick. They are so vivid and he is so real that when I awake, I am severely effected and I know it's going to be a rough day. Patrick was my best friend and I know that there will never be another like him in my lifetime.

Dear Sandy & Winnie,
Today it's Sunday 13 Jan, and a brilliantly sunny day here in LA. I was phoned this morning by my father who was in tears, having read about Patrick in the NY times. I cannot tell you how sad I feel for you and the family. I was one of the lucky ones on that terrible day, watching as the events unfolded infront of my eyes at ground zero. I remember Patrick as warmly as all the others who have signed his book. He was one of the good guys, always smiling and happy. I hope to race this Feb in the Olympics with the Hungarian team. I'd like to dedicate our efforts to his memory.
Peace be with you

Every time we come together-your absence is overpowering. I find myself looking around the corner for you--to ask me how I am doing, how I am really doing, and to share a laugh, or two...but you never turn that corner, so now I must talk to you in my prayers.
We all miss you terribly and we will never, ever forget you.
May God bless your soul and your family...
